Announcers work hard for a memorable call…and Syracuse Chiefs broadcaster Kevin Brown now has his, although it might not be one he’ll put at the top of his demo reel.
In a recent Minor League game between the Chiefs and Indianapolis Indians, the Chiefs’ Emmanuel Buriss hits a nice drive to the outfield, seemingly destined for the fence. Indians centre-fielder Gregory Polanco tracks it, reaches for it, but appears to knock it over the wall with his glove. Take a look at the video:

It takes a couple of viewings, but he doesn’t. It’s a nice catch by the centre fielder, a couple of kids playing catch behind the wall and some perfect timing to create a great optical illusion that fooled cameras and broadcasters in the stadium. Brown calls the call a highlight of his career, however jokingly recommends people watching the play, do so with the TV or speakers on mute.
